Adoption Reading

Dear Friends,

As we told you last week, our new Broadway bound play Adoption Roulette, is booked to perform a reading at The Theatre for the New City on October 08, 2018.

The reading with the authors/stars Elizabeth Fuller and Joel Vig will be held in their Johnson Theatre at 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets). It will begin at 7:00pm and the audience is asked to be there by 6:30pm.

Admission is a minimum suggestion donation of $5 at the box office when you visit on the day of the performance.

Elizabeth Fuller has written ten published books. She is an Op-Ed contributor to the New York Times. She is the playwright of Me and Jezebel which she first wrote as a book.  In 2015, Me and Jezebel won best play by Broadway.com. The New York Times called it “Delicious. Great fun to watch!” The play has performed worldwide and the book is optioned for a movie.

Joel Vig created six starring roles in Broadway’s Hairspray, which won 8 Tony awards including Best Musical. Mr. Vig also created the title role in the cult Off-Broadway musical Ruthless!, which won Best Musical honors. Mr. Vig has written plays that have played both in New York and around the country. Joel won the Judges’ Choice award in the non-fiction writing contest sponsored by Barnes and Noble and Dans Papers in East Hampton in August, 2017.

We hope to see you there!

Best wishes,

New Season Newsletter

Dear Friends,

We are calling this our New Season Newsletter since it is our first one since returning from vacation—and it is indeed about the upcoming theatre season.

Before we begin, though, we’d like to tell you that we have been away in Ocean City, New Jersey. This is our 12th year to be visiting—and we just think it is a marvelous place to go! Let us know if you’d like to hear more.

Exciting news about our newest play, Adoption Roulette: as we’ve told you before, this is a play about a couple in Westport, Connecticut who are trying to adopt a child in Russia. We are moving ahead with plans to produce the play this winter, and our next act is to arrange another reading of the play in Manhattan with a lovely theatre company—Theatre for the New City—which has four theatres downtown and plans to present a Reading of our play hopefully in October.

The actors for this performance will be the two authors, Elizabeth Fuller and Joel Vig, both of whom are excellent actors in addition to be excellent writers.

We are very excited about this project and we will let you know as soon as plans are finalized.

Meanwhile, the Broadway season is about to get under way and we will be sharing more information with you in the upcoming weeks.

Best wishes,
Philip & Marilyn

Adoption Roulette

Dear Friends,

We cannot tell you what a spectacular evening we had this past Wednesday seeing the play Adoption Roulette at The Lambs.

You may remember from our Monday post that  we would be attending a reading of a new play—and it was just remarkable!

It was written and performed by Elizabeth Fuller and Joel Vig and is the true-life story of Elizabeth and her husband trying to adopt a child from Russia. They soon find themselves trapped in a story which has all the elements of a Hitchcock thriller set in Siberia.

And we must tell you, the entire audience was spell-bound and glued to their seats. So much so that when the performance was over, no one moved, and everyone had questions!

It was such a wonderful happening and we couldn’t be more thrilled that we hope to present it soon in other theatres.

Best,
Philip & Marilyn

Staged Reading

Dear Friends,

We are excited about a reading of the play that we told you about last week, now called Adoptrivat.

The reading will be this Wednesday (two days from now) at The Lambs Foundation (3 W. 51st Street in Manhattan) at 7pm.

It is a small theatre, so seating is very limited—but there may still be a few seats left.

If you are interested in attending, you can call The Lambs Foundation 212/586-0306 or email them at RSVP@The-Lambs.org to inquire about seats.

We will be writing again soon.

Best,

Truman Talks Tennessee

Dear Friends,

Today, we’d like to tell you about an exciting performance this Wednesday evening: Truman Talks Tennessee.

It is starring a lovely actor whom we know very well: Joel Vig.  He will be taking on the magnificent role of Truman Capote and his performance, as Tina Radziwill states, cannot be missed!

Joel Vig gives an extraordinary performance as Truman Capote.  Having known Truman quite well, I was convinced that he had somehow returned to this world to amuse and captivate us for one last precious evening.  Mr. Vig’s performance is a “tour de force” that should not be missed ! —Tina Radziwill

The performance will be held at The Metropolitan Room (34 W. 22nd Street), 7:00pm September 23rd.  Tickets are $20 plus the purchase of two drinks.  They can be purchased in advance here.

By the way, this venue is quite charming.  We are excited to be seeing Joel perform this masterpiece—and we hope to see you there!
